Barcelona Day 2 - The Montserrat

We woke up early and took an hour northwest train ride to the Barcelona Montserrat. The Montserrat is a spectacularly beautiful Benedictine monk mountain retreat. Not only is Montserrat Monastery of significant religious importance but the natural beauty surrounding the monastery is simply breathtaking. However, the weather kinda ruin everything. It was very misty, cold and wet! Showers keep pouring throughout our six hours stay on the Montserrat.

Afterwhich we went to a lovely bar and had pincho for dinner. It's simply delicious. Pincho is a small slice of bread upon which an ingredient or mixture of ingredients is put and held there using a stick. It is a typical dish of the Basque Country and other Spanish territories, which is usually eaten as an appetizer, accompanied by a glass of red wine (called txikito) or beer (zurito). We found that pincho looks like a western version of sushi where almost any ingredient can be put on the bread, but those most commonly found include fish such as hake, cod, anchovy, and baby eels; sausages and hams; stuffed peppers; and croquettes.
