Day Trip to Dunadd and Kilmartin
Sunday, 30 November 2008

After stressing out with all the never-ending projects and essay, we decide to take a day break to Dunadd and Kilmartin with the International Office. It was a wonderful trip. We saw the breath-taking snow mountains from the drive through the loch, the beautiful scenery from Dunadd Hillfort and the amazing historical Kilmartin.

The mountains was breathtaking.... snow everywhere.. amazingly beautiful....

As for Dunadd, the scenery is awesome. It is difficult to believe today, but between AD500 and 900 Dunadd was one of the most important places in Scotland. The original Scots were migrants from Ireland who from about 500 settled across Argyll in ever greater numbers, founding the Kingdom of Dalriada. Dunadd was the capital of the Kingdom and where its Kings were anointed. Although the scenery was beautiful, the climb up and down the hill was equally hazardous! 1 in 10 of us fell onto the huge pool of slippery mud while climbing down from the Dunadd and of course that includes the clumsy me =.=".

Kilmartin is best known for its history. The village sits at the heart of Kilmartin Glen, and there are at least 150 prehistoric sites and 200 other ancient monuments within six miles of it. These include burial cairns, rock carvings, and standing stones, as well as the remains of the fortress at Dunadd.
