Dinner - Porkchops with Mushroom Wine Cream Sauce Damus wanted pork chop for today's dinner. And so as usual, I went searching through the internet and found this, pork chops with mushroom bourbon cream sauce from Simply Recipe. Thereafter, we went to tesco and bought the ingredients but couldn't find any bourbon whisky. (For those who are interested, bourbon is an American distilled spirit made primarily from corn.) Therefore, we could only make the pork chop without the whisky. But still the result is pretty good. We also had vegetable salads (LOTS OF VEGE) and Auntie Betty's recommended celery sauce. SUPERB! The sauce is light and tasty, simply lovely. You can add the sauce to typically anything. Here's the recipe, adapted from the cookbook Mum's Recipe Two. Celery Sauce Method: 1) Dice and boil 1/2 head of celery. Drain. 2) Melt about 55g/2oz of butter in a pan and saute the celery for a few minutes. 3) Add 55g/2oz of flour and about 1/2 pint of a mixture of chicken stock and milk. Stir till smooth. 4) Liquidise. Add a teaspoon of lemon juice and a pinch of nutmeg. 5) Season on your dish. Celery sauce and vegetable salad ![]() |
